Dr. Pei Gang is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an academician of the Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries, an academician of the German National Academy of Sciences, and the former President of Tong Ji University.

Dr. Pei Gang graduated from Shen Yang Pharmaceutical University in 1981, received a master’s degree from Shen Yang Pharmaceutical University in 1984, and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina in 1991. He is a cell biology and molecular pharmacologist who has long been engaged in research on cell signal transduction and its regulatory mechanisms. He has published more than 200 research papers in international academic journals. He served as a member of the fourth and fifth expert advisory groups of the national key basic research development program (973 program), and the convener of the expert groups of the national major research programs of “Development and Reproduction Research” and “Stem Cell and Translational Research”. He won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the Tan Kah Kee Science Awards and the Life Science Prize, Tan Jian Zhen Life Science Achievement Award.
